Instead, both sides just continuously wage war until one side has many systems and the other has very few. My main concern (and perhaps this was so prior to the expansion) is that all wars seem to be a fight to the death, with little-to-no possibility of ending in a treaty. I just finished my first campaign with the new expansion (with the latest beta patch).
